April 04, 2005, 2:52 p.m. EST - CAW Local 200 Computers for Kids | |
| April 1st was a proud day for “CAW Local 200 Computers for Kids” volunteers as John McCloskey and Rob McLean were asked to present their video to CAW Council. Through the video presentation, CAW Council delegates got to see for themselves the benefits of this program. They saw from the smiling faces of the children, and the testimonials of the program coordinators, what can be achieved when CAW activists rally the support of the community for the benefit of our future members…..the children! |
![]() | On March 14, 2005 at 12:00 pm, Computers For Kids celebrated the grand opening of Computers For Kids Grandview. This is located in the Early Years Centre on Grandview near Rivard, in Windsor, Ontario. CAW Local 200 members from the Ford Essex Engine Plant have taken on this project under the guidance of their Plant Chairperson, Shane Wark, and the centre will be Operated by Drouillard Place. |
This event also marked the anniversary of the very first Computers For Kids lab, opened last year. The facility at St. Joseph Cares was opened on the same day last year and is the 12th such centre to be launched. Since the inception of the Computers For Kids program, in excess of 500 computers were refurbished for kids that would otherwise not have the opportunity to access the technology. |
